With another stretch of grey and gloomy days ahead keeping legs and feet under wraps, it’s tempting to let grooming slide. But here in B.C. we can’t afford to waste a day of sunshine. Follow our five-step guide, and you too can be ready to slip into shorts and sandals the minute the clouds part, with skin that’s soft, smooth and (seemingly) sun-kissed.
1. NAIL IT
Taking time out for a pedicure is one of life’s finest luxuries, and if you think we’re exaggerating, you ought to either (a) try one again, or (b) get them more regularly. The newest polish technology makes hard, thick gel nails a thing of the past (thankfully): OPI GelColor is a new salon-only service that lasts up to three weeks. Available in 42 shades (including OPI classics such as Lincoln Park After Dark), each coat of gel is flash-cured under UV light for just 30 seconds. Nail aficionados can get a similar, at-home starter gel kit by Quo by ORLY ($40, excluding the necessary $80 LED lamp), or, if you’re more of a traditionalist, stick to regular polish. The Thakoon for NARS Cosmetics is the season’s best collection of brights, but if $21 for lacquer is out of your budget, the new formaldehyde- and toluene-free Gosh OMG! Collection at Shoppers Drug Mart includes 20 miniature bottles in poppy shades for only $4 a pop.

Prtty Peaushun – Best body lotion ever. It gives a subtle glow while plant extracts lift, firm and tighten. What else could you want? I love the medium color, and on big event nights, I mix a little body foundation in with it to give a little extra flawless coverage.
Clarins UV Plus HP Day Screen High Protection SPF 40 – An everyday summer essential! Oil-free while still blocking UVA and UVB rays. Wear it alone or under makeup. I even keep one in my car for when the roof is down.
Courture Colour Pequi Oil Treatment- To banish my frizzy hair at the beach. Get unbeatable shine and keep your color. You can use this oil on wet or dry hair. I even use a little extra on my dry lips.
Clinique Age Defense BB Cream – My latest obsession. Similar to a tinted moisturizer, but optics instantly help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles and it has an SPF of 30! You can wear it under foundation, but I wear it alone with a little bronzer over the top for summer.
Hourglass Superficial Waterproof Bronzer – A great natural bronze color and its oil-free and waterproof!! Crazy. Swim, sweat or dance your heart out and you’ll still be bronzed.
YSL Creme de Blush in #5 Fuchsia Temptation- I love this hot pink color. A great pop of color on nicely bronzed summer skin. This velvety soft blush gives a luminous radiant finish while looking fresh and healthy. I apply it with a soft blush brush in a circular motion on the apples of my cheeks.
Hourglass Extreme Sheen Lipgloss in Nectar – A high shine formula with just the right amount of color. Keeps my lips moist without feathering. My favorite color is Nectar, its the prefect summer coral.
St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse – For when you can’t get to the beach, but need to look like you have!! St.Tropez is by-far my favorite self-tanning product. The color is golden (not orange) and it gives the most even, smooth tan. The spray is great (a super fine 360 spray), but I prefer the mousse. Tip: Buy the St. Tropez self tanning mit to apply the mousse for the ultimate even tan without the look of dirty palms
Lancome Hypnose Waterproof Mascara – Who doesn’t want great looking lashes while at the beach? This formula is amazing! Long, full lashes and it never flakes or smudges
Clinique After Sun Rescue Balm – Its happened to all of us: Over exposure. When you come home a little too red, I reach for this after sun balm. It’s ultra moisturizing yet oil free and the aloe helps calm sun-exposed skin. You can use it on your face. I keep mine in the refrigerator for the ultimate chill down.
Clarins Extra-Firming Lip & Contour Gentle Exfoliator – For when your lips have had a little too much sun and become chapped and scaly. The sugar based exfoliator gently removes dead skin cells and plumps lips to look healthy and supple and immediately softens and nourishes them. It’s a must before rockin’ a matte lip and it’s a great product all year round.”

I like how the formula is natural and doesn't contain any toxic ingredients. And the packaging is great, dispensing the perfect amount of product without harboring bacteria.
I love how it enhanced muscle tone when basically I have none to begin with! It just creates this even skin tone the same way foundation does for the face. I'm so glad I discovered PRTTY Peaushun by Bethany, now you guys can too!

Summer Beauty Must-Haves
With 15 years of Fashion Styling under my belt, I have been privileged enough to work with many amazing, unique and talented people. One of the biggest questions I am asked is “What are your typical days like?” Well, to put it simply, my days are crazy. I work between 10-14 hours a day and my days involve A LOT of waiting around then rush, rush, rush hurry-and-eat then rush,rush, rush some more.
I usually arrive on set in the wee hours of the morning, get the clothing steamed and laid out according to the shots we will be doing, then I sit and I wait during the 1 1/2 to 2 hour time frame that it takes to get the model’s hair and makeup done.
This is always one of the best parts of the day, we chat, catch-up with each other, answer emails, tweet and best of all share our current fashion and beauty obsessions, tips and tricks.
These morning “beauty think-tank’s” have become a happy ritual on set and through them I have picked up some incredible insider makeup tips plus learned about the hottest beauty products out there from some of the world’s top makeup artists, celebrities and fashion models.
I am so excited to join The Trend Tribe as a contributor and thought it only fitting that for my first piece I share a little of this beauty wisdom with you.
Beat the Heat with my TOP 10 Beauty Must-Haves for Summer.
