The 2014 spring/summer makeup trend is....Going for the Gold!

Golden arches for the Dior Spring/Summer 2014 show created by the inimitable makeup artist, Pat McGrath. At once futuristic and organic… but better suited for the catwalk than the sidewalk.  It is possible to reference this nod to the otherworld and still bring it down to earth.

Gold can be used in a subtle way to shape the brow and give a touch of gleam. The brow is hair so use hair products rather than a stiff brow gel. A touch of gold pomade on a spooley brush offers hold and shine. Go for broke with Oribe’s 24k Pomade or… Prtty Peaushun in Medium does the trick, beautifully.

The idea isn’t to go ‘Goldfiner’ and wear them all together...balance the look keeping it simple and understated.  Focus on one area or mix in sheer and opaque gold accents. Gold is flattering to all skin tones as it reflects light and warms the complexion.

With Pat McGrath at the helm as Creative Advisor, it’s no wonder that Dolce & Gabbana Cosmetics has a gorgeous range of golds this season.

Go Midas with gold eyeshadow… Using a fluffy brush will give a sheer wash of color. Using a tighter firmer brush will give a more opaque payoff.
Note:  Don't forget to frame the eye with a strong lash to prevent a washed out look.

For the modern look of golden eyeliner, use on a nude eye, keeping the line thin and frame with dark lashes and a defined brow.

Gold lipstick isn’t as scary as it sounds when the formula is sheer and creamy. Use it alone for an updated version of a nude mouth or use it in the center of the lower lip over your favorite lip shade for a pouty effect.

Golden gloss is always friendly. Clear gloss gives shine and gold adds luminescence. It stands alone or over any other lip color.

When in doubt about the rest, nails are best! Gold is neutral and looks great on both long and short nails. Use gold as a French tip over any other color from neutral to bright to deep.
Hip Tip:  My favorite modern approach with long nails is to paint the underside of the nail. Try gold underneath and your favorite nail color on top… Or do the Louboutin look with red underneath and the gold on top!

To finish your look...give a subdued radiance to the skin on your body and/or face with Prtty Peaushun.  Use our Peaushun all over or just in areas that catch the light most.  It is the perfect product to use with any makeup or non-makeup look! I like to wear Plain (clear) everywhere and then use a shade (sheer) Light, Medium, Dark or Deep Dark on the high points of exposed skin like shoulders, décolletage, top of arms and front of legs and on the cheek bones and brow bones.

What is the most golden shade of all our Peaushun you ask? Medium. It will definitely give you that midas touch look! And it also just so happens to be our most popular Peau-shade.

Alright my gilded Prttys, I hope you enjoyed this glowing golden gab sesh.... I sure did!! Thank you all for reading....Looking forward to next week!
