Another Glowing Review: Dolce Vanity

Laa laa Monroe writes her Dolce Vanity beauty blog in the UK.  We LOVE it, she uses large beautiful photos and she is also a makeup artist so she is very knowledgeable.   Take a look at her glowing post about Prtty Peaushun!

This fragrance free, as we like to call it, “liquid gold” goes on like a lotion, comes in five alluring colors -- plain, light, medium, dark, and deep dark. Prtty Peaushun evens out skin tone and enhances muscle tone (have you headed over to the site to order yet?) The “anti-packaging” design takes up minimal space in landfills, and has a clean dispense mechanism. Yes, you get every last drop of this luscious lotion!

Celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Sade, Rihanna, Nicole Richie, Cate Blanchet & Celeb Trainer Tracy Anderson are just a few who love to use this product.

Prtty Peaushun also claims that it's innovative blend of natural plant extracts lift firm, tigten and diminish the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks and varicose veins AND minimises bruising and sore muscles - sounds like a HG product ( did you know you could even put this in your hair to tame frizz and have a subtle glow ) - can't say I have tried it as of yet.

Another Glowing Review: Beauty Reflections

Tracy from Beauty Reflections wrote this GLOWING review of Prtty Peaushun.  Read it below and stop by her blog, she writes great reveiws with nice large pictures!

Review: PRTTY PEAUSHUN Skin Tight Body Lotion

I don't tan. Well at least not intentionally. My face hardly ever gets colour because I am maniacal about using sunscreen. I don't ever sit out in the sun to tan. Ever. It's just not my thing. The only part of me that really changes colour are my arms. That's about it. And I DON'T use sunless tanners anymore. I just can't stand the SMELL THAT HORRIBLE SMELL! It really bothers me for some reason. I've worked in a hospital, so I've smelled some repulsive things in my lifetime I tell you. But that cooked sweaty stinky skin smell from sunless tanners I can't stomach. Nope.

So if I want a bit of colour in the summer, I use a tinted body lotion of some kind. It's way easier and plus NO STINK.

This is PRTTY PEAUSHUN Skin Tight Body Lotion. It was developed by Bethany Karlyn who is a celebrity makeup artist in Los Angeles and this is the formula she has been using on her clients for years to enhance their skin. Enhance is the keyword there that I love! PRTTY PEAUSHUN has some really fine microshimmer that gives a glow to your skin. It also has a temporary tightening effect to make your skin look firmer.

PRTTY PEAUSHUN is made of 92% natural raw ingredients including Avocado Oil, Avocado Butter, Grapefruit Wax, Jojoba Gel, Calendula, Green Tea and Rosemary extracts, Allantoin, Arnica (which diminishes bruises) and Blue Vervain Leaf, and no animal products at all. Gotta love that eco- friendly packaging too!

This is the light shade and as you can see it's very light. It matches my skin almost exactly.

As it dries down, it makes your skin look glowy and better by concealing any minor imperfections. It does take a few minutes to dry down, but once it does it doesn't transfer onto any clothing. If I wanted to add a bit more colour to myself, I'd use the medium shade I think. But I really like this light shade. It just makes my skin look really nice and healthy and I don't have to worry about any strange mismatched colour lines.

Summer Survival Skincare Kit Giveaway

Ahh, summer. The season of skimpy clothes and barely there bikinis is exploding in a full throttle, full force kind of way. This means we're inundated with an influx of skin exposure and sun exposure, two summer beasts that require the right skincare products to tame, manage and nurture. Skincare by Alana, an online beauty store founded by expert esthetician Alana Mitchell and specializes in organic and natural skincare products is here to help. They're giving away a set of "Summer Survival Skincare Kit" to one of my fabulous readers!

The Kit includes:

Bliss Fat Girl Slim $29: The choice of supermodels, spokespeople and other celebrities who prize this product not only for its fast acting nature and quickly visible results, but for the low degree of difficulty involved in applying it. “It uses an advanced-technology adipose antagonist, which in layman’s terms means it helps reduce cellulite appearance,” said Mitchell. “My clients see a firming, slimming effect when they use it, and it noticeably reduces the appearance of cellulite in the skin. I’m a big fan of this one – it’s one of my favorite products year round, but is ideal as you’re getting ready for the beach months!”

Osmosis UV Protection Harmonized Water $24: “You get UV 30 protection with Osmosis Harmonized water, and it keeps your skin hydrated beautifully,” describes Mitchell. “It actually shields the skin yet increases the skin’s response to tanning stimuli, so you get the best of all worlds with this product.”

Prtty Peaushun Skin Tightening Body Lotion $36: “This formula is so natural – it’s made with 92% raw ingredients and it is fragrance free. The lotion lifts, tightens and firms the skin, so it helps diminish the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks, and varicose veins. It’s also fabulous for minimizing bruising and sore muscles,” commented Mitchell. “I think this is wonderful for women of all shapes, shades and all ages because it diffuses imperfections. It gives you that subtle glow – think glimmer, not glitter.”

5 Eminence Organics Sun Care Starter Set $52: “This set provides a perfect vibe for that summertime skin tone that everyone wants, while also allowing for an effective defense from harmful rays that can damage your skin,” explains Mitchell. “The ingredients in this set revive beach-toned skin, so it’s ideal for vacation or any summertime activity. It’s my favorite repair kit in the warm months.” Set Includes 1/2-ounce containers of: Coconut Milk Cleanser, Hibiscus Calendula Recovery Masque, Tomato Sun Cream SPF 16, Tropical Vanilla Sun Cream SPF 32 (face), and Aloe Mint Hydrating Cream Gel (face).

The Star picks Prtty Peaushun as a MUST!

Toronto loves Prtty Peaushun.  Check us out in the The Star, we are a must have for summer.  We of course could not agree more.  Thanks Toronto!!

Pretty Peaushun Skin Tight Body Lotion is must-have item for summer

Published on Wednesday July 18, 2012

Prtty Peaushun Skin Tight Body Lotion retails for about $40.

Leanne Delap
By Delap, Leanne Living Columnist

Every once in a while the beauty world produces a Furby or a Tickle Me Elmo frenzy product. This summer’s shelf-clearer is Prtty Peaushun Skin Tight Body Lotion, developed by Los Angeles-based makeup artist Bethany Karlyn.
A super sheer yet powerful all-over skin makeup with a real radiant glow, it wipes out the self-tanner and home bronzer market. It is that good. It’s natural-looking and, better still, it has all-natural ingredients that make you look and feel tighter, reduce the look of cellulite, cover and actually heal bruises, scrapes and cuts (that would be the arnica in it), hide stretch marks, blend tan lines and discolourations and reduce redness. As an added bonus, its botanicals naturally repel insects for summer porch and dock purposes. Whew.
Yes, at $40 a pop, the Real Housewives of Vancouver singlehandedly wiped out the stock at Kiss and Makeup in Vancouver in less than a day. It has just arrived here in Toronto at a few select purveyors of beauty and natural products. A recent party at Waxon Wax Bar at Summerhill saw a frenzy for it at the Society Global/Lainey Gossip soirée.
The packaging is really cool, basically a lightweight bag the company calls “anti-packaging.” It’s designed to both take up miniscule space in landfills and keep the product safe from sunlight.
As it is a collapsible bag, you can squeeze out every last drop. This is particularly important to me: nothing makes me crazier than trying to get the dregs out of a poorly designed package.
The legs on the package belong to celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson, a devoted client of Karlyn’s.
The list of its fans would make an editor of UsMagazine drool. Gwyneth Paltrow buzzes about this goop on Goop. Anne Hathaway and Cate Blanchett are famously pale goddesses who use the stuff. (Gwyneth raves about how it improves muscle tone; Cate loves it on her face.) They would use plain, light or even medium when they have a bit of a Cabo tan. (I am currently using medium for summer, but love the light through winter; plain is just shine, no colour)
But better still, the product is so sheer that the colour range extends to every skin tone. The dark is what Rihanna uses, and the deep dark works on every richer skintone. (Serena Williams is also a fan.)
The other amazing thing is that there is no transfer to clothes or sheets — though I would recommend you allow a few minutes for drying time if you plan to wear something white.
The formula is PETA-approved, which means it is 100 per cent vegan. It contains 99.7 per cent naturally derived ingredients, 96 per cent of these in raw form. It is fragrance-free with a light scent from the citrus elements in the potion. Highlights from the label include various coconut oils, grapefruit waxes, avocado and jojoba oils, rosemary and calendula as well as the healing/tightening arnica.
If you make one cosmetic splurge this summer, this is it. When you glow this perfectly, you don’t need more than a swipe of lip gloss and a dab of blush.

Toronto retailers of Prtty Peaushun include:
889 Yoga, 889 Yonge St. and Thompson Hotel
  Green Beauty, 3471 Yonge St.
  Jacob & Sebastian, 622 Queen St. W.
  Waxon Waxbar, 1246 Yonge St.

Love Twenty Loves Us!

Our friend and fan Courtney Leiva is contributing editor at Love Twenty, a site targeted at the twenty something set.  Here she picks her summer picks, trends, and must haves.  Check it out, of course we are included in the mix!!

Oh hello, summer trends! We’ve been waiting almost forever for your arrival and now that you are officially here, we can’t stop talking about you–and trust us, it’s not the gossip kind. Dishing on the latest summer must-haves, this comprehensive guide has got you covered on everything trendy and hip for summer trendsetters everywhere.

I know what you are thinking… three-way, huh? As shocking as it may sound, Stormsister Spatique has developed the beauty product where you can get your three-way satisfaction (seriously) in a small bar promising shampooing, showering and shaving. Developed with seven skin nourishing oils, this small gem is the eco-lover’s dream with the 100% compostable packaging, not to mention the commitment to non-toxic ingredients. Traveling this summer? Save some space in your makeup travel bag with this time-saving find.

When I heard that Gwyneth Paltrow was a fan, I had to see this product for myself. The brainchild of celebrity makeup artist Bethany Karlyn, this skin tightening body lotion not only helps toned abs and arms look super fabulous, but with its light reflecting particles, an all-around healthy glow has never been easier. For a summer bronzed look, use this lotion after a long day at the pool to help accentuate that bronzed glow!

Violent Lips Glitteratti Mix Collection
Take your lips to the carnival this summer with the Violent Lips’ Glitteratti Mix Collection. With cotton candy hues and deep cherry reds, get a load of “The Blueberry Dream” and “The Black Cherry.” Two-tone lips never looked so dazzling. Application might be tough for the Violent Lips newbies, but with its impeccable eye-catching style, a night of summer cocktails just got more exciting.

Still obsessed with orange? Me too! Sure, neon oranges and tangerines are all the rage this summer, but when I want just a sheer muted orange for a daytime look, I go to Manna Cosmetics lipsticks for a soft touch of orange without the bold punch. A creamy finish each time of use, these sleekly designed lipsticks are travel-friendly and not to mention totally stylish. My recommendations? Go with Lola and Bunny for shimmering nudes and soft desirable orange.

Crave instant nail art but don’t have the steady hand to pull off such trendy designs? Thanks to NCLA, nail art has never been easier. In alluring designs such as Ikat prints and bright neons, go Egyptian with “I See You” or give summer a warm welcome with “The Ray and the Ro,” a fiesta inspired print. Much like the nail stickers you might remember as a kid, use top coat (I love NCLA’s “Gloss It”) to keep these designs in place. Each kit comes with its own nail file so keep those nails in tip top shape.

Sigh… which one of these can I stop drooling over first? The popular British handbag retailer has been seen in the hottest fashion magazines and on the arms of personalities such as Girls Aloud–so what’s not to love? Despite the large price tag, these gorgeous bags are so breathtaking they should just be considered art (Hello Pinterest). Enough said!

Tired of poorly applied makeup? Let the Beauty Blender Sponge come to your rescue with its unique egg-shaped sponge applicator. Unlike most makeup sponges, this elliptically-shaped sponge leaves zero streaks with its shape and texture allowing you to perfectly contour your face while evenly covering those hard-to-reach areas as well. Happy blending!

No beauty arsenal is complete without one of these supersonic babies, and when the temperature hits scorching heights, proper skincare (or should I say sonic care) is key. With the Clarisonic Mia 2, wash your face up to six times better than you would wash with your hands. A relaxing massaging feeling on your face doesn’t hurt either, so invest in this tool for a noticeably improved complexion in over six weeks.

Love the ombre look, but lack the DIY touch? Sure, I encourage all you creative cuties to go out there and make your best trendiest pair of shorts, but for those of us who don’t have the creative hand (me and dye don’t mix), there is Urban Eclectics–a guaranteed trendsetting Etsy shop geared toward suiting your ombre needs. From tribal prints to distressed denim ombre, get some fashion inspiration for your next summer party. You’re welcome!
Beach inspired waves have never been hotter this summer, so shake up the usual curling iron routine with Sarah Potempa’s Beachwaver iron. Unlike the usual curling iron, this rotating curler gives you enviable beach curls with a click of a button. An all-star favorite in Allure, Teen Vogue, and US Weekly, mermaid curls are totally your hairstyle this summer.
What do you want to get your hands on first?

Another Glowing Review: Belle Du Jour NYC

Dara Kaye who writes the blog Belle Du Jour NYC found out about us while researching our lovely pal Tracy Anderson.  She then absolutely had to try us out and this is what she had to say.  Thanks so much Dara!!!

Obsession Du Jour: Prtty Peaushun Body Lotion 7.9.12

First of all, I hope everyone had a lovely and relaxing 4th of July and Holiday weekend. I know, I sure did. I spent my time out on the North Shore of Long Island at my families home. Hot sunny days in a cool pool with family. Nothing beats it.

Now, onto more exciting things, my newest and most fabulous beauty find. I have been looking forward to putting up this review all weekend. I had to try it out first though, of course.

What the heck is it you might be thinking? Looks like those gel vitamin drinks you can pick up at GNC right? But, alas, it is not. It is the most amazing and secret body lotion. I dont know if you can only classify it as a body lotion though. Molly Sims calls it her 'Secret Weapon'.

I first found out about this while doing my obsessing over Tracey Anderson (If you dont know who she is, you should! She is a trainer out in LA who is adorable and her work outs kick major booty). I was watching one of her backstage videos and her makeup artist was putting this on her. I did a little background research and I found out it was called 'Prtty Peaushun'- pronounced I assume, Pretty Potion. They have a Prtty Peaushun website you can order on and yes that is Tracey Anderson's bod featured on the website. Amazing right? Anyway, I found a website where they sell it for 20% off here called Payless Beauty! with the code PT20, so I would order from there! I did!

Now onto the actual review, this is a very light, quick absorbing, completely not greasy lotions for your body. I haven't yet tried it on my face, but I will. I am a daredevil like that. This stuff is AMAZING. It does not have any sparkle but very very refined micro shimmer to give you a glowing look. You do not even see the shimmer when you are in person, just looks like your skin is HIGHLY moisturized, something I always strive for. There is a light citrus-y scent that fades within minutes of applying. I ordered the lotion in medium because I have a tan, but it is not really colored, I would describe it as a peach. I think it is a very universal color. Anyone can use it, tan or not. It really is a 'perfecting lotion', it minimized any color discolorations and I know this sounds ludicrous but makes your legs look more in shape. I know, I know! Trust me though.

Another Glowing Review! Adventures in Makeup

Shahada Karim is not only a fellow makeup artist, she is the Beauty Director for Agenda Magazine, and she writes this blog, Adventures in Makeup.   We are thrilled with her review.  Not only has she used it on set, she used Prtty Peaushun on herself and loves the results.  Read the review below and make sure to check out this great makeup blog!

Glow On: Prtty Peaushun Skintight Lotion

This is one of those 'where have you  been all my life' products for my kit. Most 'warm weather' photo shoots require some kind of body making up. With the models in bikinis or little bits of clothing, there's a lot of skin showing. And since I like as 'little' work done in post as possible, I'm always trying to make sure the models are made up to perfection, from head to toe.

Enter Prtty Peaushun:
It's a light reflecting lotion, that also has a temporary 'tightening' effect on the skin. This is not to be confused with full on body makeup. It's more of a non-transferable tinted moisturizer. The 'non transferable' part is what really got me. Nothing worse than bronzing down a model, only to have the bronzer rub onto the clothing or furniture or walls and what not.

I was sent the Prtty Peaushun lotions in Medium and Dark. I'm a combination of the two. Medium is a dead ringer for my skin tone, but nearly disappears when I put it on. Dark gives me more of a 'bronzing' effect. The combination of the two makes me 'glow' without looking like I'm actually wearing anything.

The interesting thing about the packaging is that it's designed to let you squeeze out every last drop. In pictures, I was worried that the packaging would be too flimsy, but I'm happy to report that it's pretty freakin' sturdy.

Another plus... you get a LOT of product. I think the creators took into consideration that you'll be using this on your whole body, so they adjusted accordingly. I'm always tickled by 'body glow' products that come in little tubes or bottles. Seriously, what am I supposed to do with that... just hit the hot spots?

This is what the Dark lotion looks like up close, coming out of the nozzle...
That's what it looks like just before it's fully absorbed. Now, once it sets on the skin (about 20 seconds), it looks more like this:
I ran around with it on during an 8 hour call, and I'm pleased to report that it never moved. I actually forgot I had it on until I went to take off my makeup... and some remover dripped down on my arms and pulled up the product.
I also used the medium shade on 3 of the models, and the darker shade on one of the models, in the cover shoot for Agenda Magazine:

You can see they're not OBVIOUSLY bronzed or discolored in any way. I think that Prtty Peaushun lotion makes you look like YOU on your best day (with maybe a little bit of a tan/glow). Good stuff. I really like it.

Another Glowing Review! 2 Noble Crows

Kara from 2 Noble Crows found us in Fred Segal, a must stop shopping experience if you are visiting L.A.  She of course LOVED it!!  Here is what she wrote, thanks a bunch Kara!!

Best Beauty Secret from Celeb Trainer Tracy Anderson:

Dear Margaret,

What a cool weekend get away.. that's so nice that y'all get to escape the heat every weekend and bring the pups! Love the "hatch" pic shout out too:)

While I was in L.A. last week for market, my mom and I did some shopping on the side at Fred Segal in Santa Monica.. I could get lost in there for hours:) Anyways, their beauty department is one of my favorites and to my delight, they had out testers for the product "Prtty Peaushun(pronounced pretty potion), which I've been dying to try ever since reading about it in an article on celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson's "favorite products" list. She uses it in all of her photo shoots, videos, and interviews.. and recommends it to all of her clients. It's like a silky, shimmery, light-reflecting, camouflaging, bronzing, "insider's secret" skin lotion all in one-Brilliant. So I bought the "medium tint" pouch and am obsessed.. such a good product for the summer time when we wear shorts/bikinis/mini dresses etc. and are in the natural light-wolf:) Here's the descrption:

"The formula was originally created by top celebrity make up artist Bethany Karlyn for photo shoots but after years of requests from her clients such as Tracy Anderson, Nicole Richie, Cate Blanchett and Gwyneth Paltrow to name but a few, she launched the lotion.
Prtty Peaushun contains subtle light reflecting particles in a natural emollient base, which gives the skin a beautiful and flattering sheen. The effect can be likened to that of a light tinted moisturiser for the body as the lotion helps to cover minor imperfections and enhances definition. The formula is natural, fragrance free and contains no toxic nasties.
Natural ingredients such as avocado oil, grapefruit, jojoba and green tea extracts all work together to lift, firm and tighten the skin.
If that wasn’t enough, the lotion also helps to diminish the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks and varicose veins, leaving you with a slimmer and smoother silhouette.
Prtty Peushun is available in five shades from plain to deep dark. Shake the pouch thoroughly first before you apply, then allow to dry completely before getting dressed."
Get it!
xoxo,
Kara
