MAXIM Cover!

The amazing Makeup Artist Cara Maccianti worked on Maxim's November cover.  Check out the gorgeous glow on cover girl Kelly Kelly from the WWE.  Here is the write up from one of our faves,  15 Minute Beauty Fanatic, where Christine talks to Cara about her work.

What Does It Take to Be a Maxim Cover Girl? A Peek At Kelly Kelly's Makeup!

I will fully admit that while I've never actually read (or even opened) an issue of Maxim, I've long been fascinated by their covers. The girls look ah-maz-ing. Yes, they are super sex kittened up, but when a girl is featured on the cover they go all out. This month's cover girl is Kelly Kelly, from the WWE. She got the full Maxim girl treatment, though her look is surprisingly more natural than a lot of pics I found of her on-line. I got the scoop on her look from Cara Maccianti, the makeup artist that worked with Kelly that day.

Read on to find out what Cara was going for and what products she used!

I really liked this picture of Kelly from inside of the magazine, doesn't she look like she's just spent a day at the beach with glowing, amazing skin to prove it?

Of the look, Cara says, "This cover and feature were shot on location in Las Vegas, NV. Maxim wanted a more natural but smoking hot look and this is the look I created for the extremely beautiful WWE Kelly Kelly."

Cara used a few professional products (like the foundation), though she has easier to find alternative recommendations. I love that she even used products from Boots No 7, hello Target!

She has a some great makeup tips, like using a cream blush with a lighter, highlighting powder blush over it. The results last a long time and creates an amazing, fresh and glowing look. This is something I do a lot, though I use NARS Multiple in Orgasm and then just grab one of my MAC Beauty Powders for over it. I've made a few notes below the notes that Cara sent me.

Foundation:
RCMA Shinto 3 mixed down with Cetaphil moisturizer, Can use NARS Sheer Matte Foundation in Celyan and Deauville mixed down with Cetaphil moisturizer
**If you're hard to match to a tinted moisturizer, this is an amazing way to create your own! You can also vary the proportions to increase coverage as needed.

Eyeshadow:
Boots No7 Stay Perfect Eye Mousse in Fudge. Place on lid with nylon brush blend upward. Layer lightly with more in the crease, to darken and define crease

Eye Highlight:
MAC Cosmetics Nylon Under brow and inner corners of the eye, blended well

Liner:
MAC Fluid Line in Dip Down, Very thin line right at the lash line, no bottom liner

Concealer:
INGLOT AMC Cream Concealer in 70 and 67

Undereye powder:
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening powder in #2

Mascara:
Covergirl LASHBLAST VOLUME BLASTING MASCARA in Black, Waterproof
**LashBlast Volume Blasting is the original orange LashBlast that I called a holy grail mascara. Love this stuff!

Powder:
NARS Loose Powder in EDEN – lightly only as needed

Blush:
NARS Multiple in G-Spot, MAC Blush Strada (Discontinued)
**Strada is discontinued, though there are some reports of it popping up at CCO outlets around the country. It's about $35 on eBay right now, but will be a repromote as part of the Gareth Pugh collection, available starting November 23rd. You can see a great swatch of it at Temptalia before you take the plunge.

Lips:
Chanel Lipgloss #51

Body Lotion and highlight:
Prtty Peaushun in “Plain”

Another Glowing Review and GIVEAWAY!!!!

Hey check out this awesome review from Affairs Magazine online!  It's awesome and not only do they love Prtty Peaushun, they want to give some away!!  3 packs of Prtty Peaushun are up for grabs.  Read the review and rules for the giveaway below!

Michelle Resendiz – Chicago, Il.
Thank you Prtty Peaushun for sending some of your Skin Tight Lotion for review and for our beauty blog’s first ever READER GIVEAWAY! I am so excited for my readers to get a chance to try this amazing stuff… I tried it tonight after a nice shower, and I’m in love.
OK, first of all let me tell you what I know about this stuff!
  • It comes in this AMAZING anti-packaging that’s designed to take up minimal space in landfills, it’s very lightweight, and the way that it’s designed you will get every last bit of product out of it! LOVE THAT.
  • It’s naturally fragrance free and is a natural formula! Which means it has nothing toxic in it.. which I love. The fact that its healthy for your skin, and did I mention that they don’t do ANY ANIMAL TESTING? Yes, this product is natural, and Peta approved.
  • It was designed by a Hollywood make-up artist to create that perfect runway glow. After years it’s finally available to the public…
  • The subtle light reflecting pigments give a natural radiance and will help even out skin tone while enhancing muscle tone! Lea Michelle (glee cast), Leona Lewis (musician), Pam Anderson (model/actress), and Gwyneth Paltrow (actress) are just a few of the names listed using this to create that sexy, perfect, slimmer silhouette.
I really was pleased with the skin tight lotion… it’s not tested on animals, it’s natural, the sparkle is amazing, it makes my skin look and feel firmer, whats not to like? I could go on forever, but really I think what really stole my heart was the fact that after use it actually will improve the condition of your skin. I really like doing things that help my body, and being a plus sized girl, sometimes I feel like I need all the help I can get! I have to admit I was a little afraid it wasn’t going to work as well as it did, but I am amazed on how smooth and creamy my skin feels. It’s even better than I imaged. My skin tends to be  a tad dry in the winter, and I can already tell that this is going to make the cut for me.
I, personally, would like it a tad darker so next time I’m going to try the medium color instead of the light. I love the natural glow that the light color brings to my skin. Stay tuned for a make-up tip on how to use this with your foundation! My next article I’m going to cover a ‘Do it Yourself Club’ tip on how to make your very own ‘at home’ tinted moisturizer… but before that LETS GET INTO THE READER GIVEAWAY!
In the spirit of the USA coming up on Thanksgiving this weekend we are going to pick three readers at random to get their very own Skin Tight Lotion! I have one lightone medium, and one dark so they are going to be first come first serve people! Here’s the Rules:
  1. You have to be a Facebook fan and/or follow the Affairs Magazine Twitter.
  2. You have to also follow Prtty Peaushun on Facebook and Twitter as well.
  3. You must share the Link to this article on Facebook and/or tweet the hash-tag ”I WANT MY PRETTY PEAUSHUN #AffairsGiveaway” then include the link to the article.
  4. 3 Winners will be picked at Random on BLACK FRIDAY November 25th, 2011 by me @MichelleResi82
  5. I’ll be watching you… You may also comment on this article telling me why I should randomly pick you, and what color you might want.
  6. Happy contest-ING!
No flash, Can you see the lovely glow on my skin?
Disclaimer: All ideas and thoughts in this review are my own. I came to these conclusions because I tried this product, I was not paid for this… and this is my own opinion. All pictures are taken by Michelle Resendiz with iPhone Camera.

Another Glowing Review: Cheryl's Beauty Blog

Here is an excerpt from Cheryl's Beauty Blog, http://www.makeupbycherylh.com/,  thanks so much Cheryl!

REVIEW: Prtty Peaushun Skin Tight Body Lotion

Hey Guys!
As you know, I've been really into skincare products as of lately, so I was really excited when I was given the opportunity to test out Prtty Peaushun Skin Tight Body Lotion!

Prtty Peaushun (pronounced "Pretty Potion") was created by Bethany Karlyn, a makeup artist who designed the product for celebrities, entertainers, athletes, and anyone else who wants to enhance the radiance of their skin.
About the Product:

"Subtle light reflecting particles in a natural emollient base give the skin a gorgeous, flattering glow. Radiance conceals minor imperfections and enhances definition to create a sexy, slimmer silhouette. Infused with an innovative blend of natural plant extracts to lift, firm, tighten and diminish the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks and varicose veins, as well as minimizing bruising and sore muscles.

As a Hollywood makeup artist, Bethany has been using this formula to make her celebrity clients' skin glow. After years of request to make this product available, Prtty Peaushun Skin Tight Body Lotion is finally here. It not only looks beautiful on, but with the help of some innovative active ingredients, will also improve the condition of your skin. The suble light rflecting pigments in the shades LightMediumDark, and Deep Dark will help even out skin tone and enhance muscle tone. Use Plain on its own for a colourless shine sans the glow or layer on top of your skin tone shade for an even more luminous look."

Celebrity Fans: Gwyneth Paltrow, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Anna Kendrick, Vivica Fox, Natasha Bedingfield, Sade, Macy Gray, Rihanna, Leona Lewis, Pink, Marisa Tomei, Pamela Anderson, Monica, Faith Ford, Brooklyn Decker, Selena Gomez, Brandy, Lea Michelle, Taylor Swift, Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel, Tilda Swinton, Nicole Richie, Emma Watson, Sarah Hyland, Debi Mazar.

Formula:
"The Prtty Peaushun formula is natural and fragrance free. It does not contain any toxic ingredients and is formulated without DEA, GMO's, Parabens, Petrochemicals, Pthalates, Propyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Sulfates, Synthetic dye, Synthetic fragrance, Talc, Toluene, Triclosan"

Peta Approved, Cruelty free and vegan.
Packaging:
"The Prtty Peaushun packaging is all about 'anti-packaging', designed to take up minimal space and to be exceptionally light, using no secondary packing to help leave as light a carbon footprint as possible.

The dispensing mechanism keeps the product clean by discouraging contaminants to enter. The flexibility of the package guarantees you get every last drop."
Review:

Prtty Peaushun has four shades to choose from as well as one colourless option (Light, Medium, Dark, Deep Dark, and Plain). I ended up deciding on the "Dark" formula, as I thought it would be best suited for my self tan. I've worn this on a few occasions since I was given this product to try a few weeks ago. I was wearing this for Halloween when I was Belle, and I also wore this out to the club last weekend in Toronto:

The Secret to Photo Shoot-Worthy Skin

The Secret to Photo Shoot-Worthy Skin

Posted Monday, November 07, 2011 by Shellie Terry Benson, Editor

Once, during a magazine photo shoot in Naples, FL, a stylist pulled out a supersecret product and smeared it on his bikini-clad models' legs, arms, stomachs and backs. I watched in wonder as their rather normal-looking skin transformed into luminescent, flawless, muscle-defined, tanned skin that inspired a jealous fit from me.

"What is that magic stuff?" I asked. "It's a secret. But try it," he offered and plopped a dollop into my hand. I lathered it on my legs and felt like a super svelte model, free of any bruises or spider veins for the rest of the day. I've often dreamed of finding such a product again...and now I have.

Celebrity makeup artist Bethany Karlyn's Prtty Peaushun recently landed on my desk, and a glint from the silvery pouch gave me a little wink. The next day I slathered it on, and like that unidentified product, this makeup/lotion gave my skin a subtle glisten and smoothed away discolorations. The plant extracts in the formula work to tighten the skin, and the light-reflecting particles highlight muscle tone and really make the skin glow.

So take that, stylist guy! Mystery solved. Karlyn's formula is a favorite among many celebrities known for their glistening skin like Rihanna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Anne Hathaway and more. Now you can get in on the secret, too.

Celeb Love: Tea Leoni

Look who uses Prtty Peaushun!  We are so thrilled, Tea Leoni is an absolute stunner, check out this interview in the NY Times T Magazine Blog!

Face Time | Téa Leoni

Photograph and makeup by Tina Turnbow. Hair by Laurent D.
They say laughter is the best medicine, and after a few days of working with Téa Leoni I was feeling pretty healthy. She was doing press and the premiere for her new movie, “Tower Heist,” opening Nov. 4. She plays a special agent in the movie, which also stars Alan Alda, Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy. I believe her glowing beauty is due, in part, to her honesty, humor and refreshing approach to life. And some products even I had never heard of!
T.T.: You have a sun-kissed glow. What is your sun secret?
T.L.: Aqua Tan self-tanning products and latex gloves! To spice up the glow and moisturize my body, I use Prtty Peaushun Skin Tight Body Lotion. It’s all natural, with 92 percent raw ingredients. It conceals minor imperfections and has arnica in it. For my face I like Jane Iredale Purepressed Base Mineral Foundation in Golden Glow.
T.T.: Do you feel your approach to and appreciation of cosmetics have changed over time?
T.L.: Yes! I’ve always taken a simple approach with my makeup. But about five years ago, I started getting more into it. I started to feel more washed out as I got older. I appreciate how much makeup helps to define my brows and lashes now. And how cheek stains and bronzer give my face more color.
T.T.: What are your everyday makeup essentials?
T.L.: To plump up my lashes I like Maybelline XXL Pro Volume Mascara. I do a little liner on the upper lash line using Sonia Kashuk’s Eye Definer in Iced Coffee. She also has some great cream eye shadows. I define my brows with L’Oréal Paris Brow Stylistpencils. For my cheeks and lips I like Tint Hint by Laura Geller and O-Glow by Smashbox. I like lip products that taste good, something with all-natural ingredients, like Josie Maran’s Argan Lip Treatment. To top it off, I don’t go anywhere without a spritz of my favorite Le Labo fragrance- usually Neroli 36.
T.T.: Whose beauty do you admire and relate to most?
T.L.: I’d have to say Lauren Hutton. I admire her natural simplicity. A flick of mascara, a gap-revealing smile … and done. She is comfortable as is, with what is.
T.T.: Do you have any personal style rules you could share?
T.L.: I like a bit of irony in my style. Modern, vintage, real and fake. I like items with sentimental value. Day to day, I wear Rag & Bone jeans and cowboy boots. My favorite color is every hue of blue. But, you should never wear head-to-toe anything.
T.T.: How do you stay so fit?
T.L.: I just keep moving! I walk a lot. My kids, Miller and West, keep me pretty active, too.
T.T.: Do you keep a close eye on your health?
T.L.: I try. When I’m not treating my body well, it holds up a sign to let me know. I’m really into raw kale salads right now, with cranberries and walnuts. I make this Asian orange dressing that is out of this world.
T.T.: Let’s talk about your lovely hair. You have been working with the hairdresser Laurent D for 25 years. How did you two meet?
T.L.: I moved from New York City to L.A. to work on “Charlie’s Angels” around 1978. The lead hairdresser for the show was José Eber. He introduced me to Laurent D, and we’ve worked together ever since. I use his Privé hair care products. I hate to brush my hair, it gets too fluffy, so I especially like his Finishing Texture Spray. The Privé Concept Vert shampoo and conditioner are great, and 100 percent green. I go to Dawn in the Privé salon in L.A. for my color. They have a full spa there, with head-to-toe beauty treatments, even Botox.
